Delivery & Inventory Specialist – Appleton, WI and Dallas, TX

Our client is looking for a candidate with prior delivery, inventory and warehouse experience. The ideal candidate will have worked at the top building retailers or distributors. The Delivery & Inventory Specialist provides supplemental on-site sales and service support for Outside Sales Associates (OSAs) in the areas of conversions, ordering stock, putting orders away, Six Sigma strategy (6S) handling of service & equipment, and expediting special product or service situations. Also, this position will have a wide variety of self-generated sales activities including, prospecting, up-selling customers, selling specials, registering accounts online, and supporting our Strategic Account Representatives.

  • The job entails requirements for lifting, bending, stretching, standing and driving a motor vehicle; extensive standing and walking requirements
  • Requires normal dexterity, strength, coordination, and vision inherent in factory and/or office work
  • Supports the success of an assigned district of OSAs to increase sales productivity
  • Studies Company solutions, products, services, sales processes, and culture. Includes learning technical product knowledge with the limited ability to teach to customers and associates.
  • Works with sales team to generate sales activities in the assigned district to warrant product growth within VMI specialty customers.
  • Supports the implementation of Vendor Managed Inventory programs at customer locations
  • Establish productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts to foster sales growth and retention.
  • Continuous partnership with Strategic Account Representatives to perform any needs assessment that supports new business acquisition.
  • Maintains high customer satisfaction ratings that meet company standards.
  • Unpacks orders, checks the accuracy of shipment and put stock away at customer locations.
  • Ensures appropriate customer stock levels, generates new orders for merchandise where appropriate, obtains customer’s pre-approval to place orders when required, and submits orders.
  • Processes return merchandise authorizations as needed.
  • Completes selling activities to defined customers with promotions and other offerings as directed by the District Sales Manager
  • Performs general (6S) housekeeping of service equipment and immediate area to supplement the Company’s value package
  • Provides communication and feedback to the sales representative and DSM as appropriate to ensure full customer satisfaction
  • Utilizes company technology to complete daily tasks, order generation, tracking, routing as defined by the company.


  • Demonstrated sales aptitude or orientation desire
  • Technical product knowledge preferred – relevant to the markets being served, including but not limited to fasteners, chemicals, industrial maintenance supplies, electrical, food processing, manufacturing, etc.
  • Requires ability to read technical material
  • Must exhibit solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be computer literate and ability to acclimate to PC based order entry system and wireless, hand-held scanners
  • Must exhibit basic math skills and ability to organize and manage time appropriately
  • Salary Range $30,000 – $35,000
