Industrial Designer – Downtown Los Angeles

The Industrial Designer will have strong and effective communications skills to coordinate with a cross-functional team with other technical disciplines, marketing/product management, and operations. These communication skills will be critical when interfacing with management about concepts and designs.   In-depth expertise in manufacturing technologies is a prerequisite including experience in a wide variety of materials (plastics and metals) and processes (low volume and high volume) in designs targeted for manufacturing at domestic as well as international partners.

Requirement Include:

  • In depth expertise in manufacturing technologies is a prerequisite
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial design or Product Design
  • 3-5 yrs. exp. concepting, developing and design for 5+ product lines
  • Research market trends, competitive positioning and use-case investigation
  • 2D and 3D documentation of design concepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (less than 20%)

Duties Include:

It is also critical to be capable of concepting and communicating design architectures both on a holistic and a detail level.   Since we are developing high technology lighting fixtures, experience with concepting, developing and design for at least 5 customer-facing products or product lines involving electronics packaging is key. You need to understand how to deliver products that require making tradeoffs between performance, cost, time and aesthetics in a fast-paced development environment. The Industrial Designer will also design and create documentation of concepts, parts, and assemblies effectively with a 2D design and 3D CAD tools.

2D and 3D documentation of design concepts that meet company objectives for architecture, function, cost and aesthetics High-quality renderings usable for early market validation Early prototypes/mock-up capable of providing proof of concept Maintenance of design intent through the engineering and manufacturing process
